I downloaded DHEEdt17Bsc today from Snapfiles through a reference from Lockergnome. The reviews were positive from both sites.

I'm using:

Recent install of Win98SE - 256 mb ram - 550 mhz Pentium processor - 60G harddrive. All hardware drivers, windows updates, etc. are current.

I ran the installation program with no error messages. I left the checkbox to start Dynamic HTML Editor on the final install window checked and closed the window.

My mouse cursor indicated working activity for a few moments but nothing happened. I tried opening Dynamic HTML Editor with the desktop icon and through the start menu icon. Same results.

I uninstalled and reinstalled Dynamic HTML Editor making sure no backround programs were running. Same results.

I'm at a loss. I get no error messages at any time.

Any help would be appreciated.

Hi witchvetch.

I have an extra computer with approximately the same configuration as your's. I tried and have been unable to repeat the problem. I'm obviously not sure, but it sounds to me like the problem is with the setup program, and not Dynamic HTML Editor. It seems to be not finishing its work.

Until s.dav gets a chance to consider the problem, you might try the following:

1) Uninstall any previous version of Dynamic HTML Editor. (use add / remove programs from your windows control panel.)

2) Download Dynamic HTML Editor again - this time from http://www.hexagora.com/en_details_dhe.asp#

3) Un-check the "start Dynamic HTML Editor" option at the conclusion of setup.

4) After setup completes, and before running Dynamic HTML Editor from the program files menu, re-start your computer.

and

5) Run Dynamic HTML Editor from the program files menu.

Let us know if you're successful :)

Hope this helps. Good luck!

Joe

Thank you. I am off to try this suggestion. One thing I forgot to mention. Alt-crtl-del after trying to start the program, showed the program running. I had to end-task before it uninstalled. The first time, when trying to open it from desktop icon and the start menu, it showed two instances of this program running.

I've gone into msconfig to disable all startup programs and services. Quicktime task doesn't show up in taskman but it's in the startup. Wish me luck!

I get the same results. I don't believe I can do a cleaner installation. I used a utility program to kill all non-vital tasks. Taskmon shows Dynamic HTML Editor is running but it just doesn't come up. :(

Hello witchvetch,
your is a very strange problem; I've the same Win98 with 64 Mb of RAM and all go ok.
It's strange also that you see 2 instances of Dynamic HTML Editor in memory because the program permit only one instance a time of the program :-(

I think you should try to do the steps below:

1- uninstall Dynamic HTML Editor (first close all instances)
2- search in internet for a program named Jv16 Powertools and launch their Registry Cleaner (this should fix all registry problems)
3- open a DOS shell and type SET TEMP then watch if you have the temporaly directory setupped
4- restart Windows
5- try to reinstall the program

Regards, Davide
