Hello ljkltd (?),
the only purpose of EVD is to hide/show windows when you change desktop.

You can load a lot of windows in the first desktop, change desktop and have no window in that; if you return to first you can see all old windows active.
In a few days I'll release a new version with a small bugs fixed and the ability to change the wallpaper of all desktop.

Regards, Davide

I agree. Where are instructions? I'm sorry, I just don't get it. I understood that I could have nine different desktops - meaning each desktop could have different icons (maybe even different background). If not, just what is the point?

There are no instructions ...
Just load the program and you could see it in the try area.
Right click on the icon and see the options in the menu.

Sorry. I don't see the point if all it does is seperate desktops with programs running and those not. Why? If I can't customize each desktop according to use --- this is useless. I don't see the need for mulitple desktops for running programs. I think I'll uninstall.

I remember when I purchased my last coffee maker. It is a terribly simple but enormously useful machine. Anyway, it came with a volume of instructions - most of which stated the obvious, with the occasional warning like "do not take a bath with the coffee maker". I remember wondering -- who are these instructions for? My wife pointed out that unlikely as it seemed, there were probably people out there who could not figure our how to use their coffee maker (without being electrocuted by it) without the instructions.

Personally, I am grateful for the freeware offered here - and not put off in the slightest by the need to figure out how they work, or discover their usefulness.

Keep up the good work Hexagora!

Joe

Ok, I know this is a little late, but I've actually found several programs that will have differant program icons for each virtual desktop like ljkltd and skstewart where probably looking for.
All these seemed to work on Windows 64-bit Profesional
Cool Desk (http://www.shelltoys.com/virtual_desktop/index.html)
Several other interesting programs there
Multi User Desktop (http://www.gamerstower.com/)
I just found this one. It looks to have some rather usefull features.
Virtual Desktop Toolbox (http://www.r2d2-software.com/VDT/Tutorial/Default/index.htm)
Haven't checked if the icon configurations stick after reboot, but it has many options for many types of virtual desktops including desktops larger then the monitor screen!

Dexpot (http://www.dexpot.de)
This didn't work for Windows 64, but it might do the trick for the other Windows OSs. (And free too!)

You Control (http://www.yousoftware.com/desktops/desktops.php)
For the Mac OS X, thus I haven't tried it, but http://72.14.203.104/search?q=cache:3-Qf7ieTQ4oJ:theubergeeks.net/2006/05/25/watch-the-benefits-of-virtual-desktops/feed/ %22different icons%22 desktop&hl=en&gl=us&ct=clnk&cd=31 has a comment saying that it does the job (near the bottom).

Chears!
