I just downloaded the file "DHEEdt16Enh_1.zip". I extracted the files to my hard drive using Winzip. I proceeded to run the "setup.exe" file. I get the pop-up stating the install was successful. When I launch the application I am getting "Dynamic HTML Editor error - run time error 372 - failed to load control 'ctlflatcombo' from. Your version may be outdated. make sure you are using the version that was provided with your application". After clicking OK i get the following error "Dynamic HTML Editor - has caused an error in MSVBVM60.DLL - Dynamic HTML Editor will now close - if you continue to experience problems try restarting your computer". I am running Windows ME. Any solutions for this? Thank you, Forwhite

Hi all,
I've made an hard work on version 1.7 to make Dynamic HTML Editor more lightweight and now it should me stable on Win95/98/ME platform.

As Matthew say Dynamic HTML Editor 1.6 eat all GDI memory of Windows.
I hope now it work ok!

Trick:
If you experience runtime errors ("cannot load control", etc...) please close all other applications and uncheck "cache the properties window" on the setting panel.

Once it happened to me too (only once) and I had other processes running too. But I don't really think it's an incompatibility with any of those other programs. I suspect it really was an 'Out of memory' or, more exactly, 'Out of GDI resources'. I say so because dhe is written in vb, and I had similar problems with some of my vb applications when running on windows 9x (windows nt/2k seems to have much better handling of system resources and shouldn't trigger the problem). vb in turn reports nonsense errors in such extreme conditions, eg. when it cannot load a form it blames a control of that form, raises an irritating 'Run-time Error 0' (zero!), or even goes straight to gpf.

Hi Simon,
like Dav has already said, new mods for the installer will be avaible after 7 January ...

Hi De,

I've unpacked the zipfile to a temporary directory. This resulted in a setup procedure and a CAB file. I unpacked the CAB file to a program directory. Next I created a shortcut and started the program. All worked well. I have even created my first website template with Dynamic HTML Editor.

For your information:
I tried to install Dynamic HTML Editor on a Win98SE computer and received the same message. Again I followed the instructions and now it did work. Probably you need to modify the installer file to work on XP.

Maybe I am not clear enough. Let me try again.

I can't install Dynamic HTML Editor, because I get an error message that suggests that some files are out of date. It then asks me if setup should modify these files. If I aggree I have to click OK an the computer will be restarted. When I click OK, the computer gets restarted. After restart I try to install again, I receive the same error again.

I short, Dynamic HTML Editor can't be installed and the suggested solution does not work.

Ok, I've understood. That problem because setup can't update system files in use; I think you must close all your programs before install Dynamic HTML Editor. If this doesn't work I'll create an alternative setup for you but I can upload it only for January 7 2004.

What is your problem?
Simon Templar Posted - 18 Dec 2003 : 12:25:43
I am trying to install Dynamic HTML Editor 1.6 on a XP Home computer.

I receive an error message, stating that some files are out of date and need to be replaced. Upon following the suggestions made by the error message window I clicked OK and rebooted the computer. The result is the same however. I had installed vbrun60sp5 prior to installing Dynamic HTML Editor 1.6. I don't want to shutdown all of my applications, since would meen I have to shutdown my virusscanner an firewall.

How to continue?
