Posted - 18 Mar 2008 : 10:56:16 Perhaps it seems a bit strange, but I'm looking for some software to slow down my internet speed. I would like to test some sites with a slower connection then my normal speed, just to see how long it will take to load. I've looked around but the only one I found was Speed Limiter, and I cant get it working. Anyone got some idea? |

Posted - 19 Mar 2008 : 09:49:48 That didn't work out Jan. I already checked the modem instruction book but can't find anything about changing settings in any way. I think I'll stick by the software. Thanks anyway. |

Posted - 19 Mar 2008 : 08:51:18 I don't know where a cable modem has this settings. Normally you can reach a modem on it's IP-adres. If you use the command: "tracert www.hexagora.com" it tell's you which steps it uses to get there. The first IP-adres can be the modem. In my case is says that the router is 192.168.1.1 (Standard internal adres). The modem is 10.0.0.38 If I want to reach the modem, I go to the browser and type the ip-adres in the adresfield. Maybe you have to look up the instructions of the modem.

Posted - 19 Mar 2008 : 08:34:38 Thanks for your tips; Sloppy seems to be a nice and simple solution. With TrafficShaper I discovered one of my sites has been hacked. A Iframe of 1x1 pixel was placed with a link in it to a pornsite. I think to boost up their search results and visitor numbers. My site looked like it always did. Normally the message in the statusbar that shows the connection was to fast to read, but TS showed me all the connections. After Googling a bit I found that I was not the only one who has been hacked by that particularly site. BE WARNED.
Jan, I have no idea if it is possible to change the speed of my cable modem. Can I reach its settings using a browser? |

Isn't it easier to find the right properties in your modem and to try to choose a lower speed? |
