Here's a question for the more experienced users on this forum. [2 ??:-|] I'am making a website for a client, that wants to hear sound, when he opens the website. This sound/song should continue when visitors are going through the site (it's a "heavy" site, with lot of pictures and text). In version 3 from dhe I made a basic page (index) and the menu lets pop up Iframes. It works as it should but the loading time is terrible cause you have only one page. I've tried to use a "masterpage" (in version 3 and 4) but when you than go to the next menu item, the song starts from the beginning (cause the masterpage loads also, I think). Anybody an idea how to solve this??

Thanx in advance!!

Dr. Bob

BTW: example of the site as it is now: www.tshwaranang.nl

In order to make the sound playing for your entire site you have to place it in a separate hidden frame.
You have to create a frameset by hands because D.H.E. cannot make them. Then you can set the frameset page as the starting page of your site ;-)

Hi dr.Bob,

Take a look here:
http://www.allwebco-templates.com/support/S_sound_frame_options.htm

And if you want it simple this is my advise:
A long time ago i made a website on which i wanted to keep the music play too. Was not easy and my solution is not very elegant but it works.

- Make an index-page which contains a soundplayer. I made it hidden, so users could not stop the sound (as long as they did not find out how to do that)[2 OOO]. On this page you can put a text like 'one moment please...redirecting'.

- Make an automatic redirect to your existing homepage(probably index.htmt but you have to rename it in something like 'home.html'). Make sure it opens in a new window. Now the music on the indexpage keeps on playing when the visitor is browsing the website. He or she has to close the index-page to stop the music.

As i said: Not very elegant and some people will hate you doing this, but it works.

You can PM me in Dutch when you don't understand.

Try changing your menu items to .gif images (makes a difference)and any other pics that will not degrade by using the .gif format. Most should be more than acceptable. The most noticeable, when I first went onsite was the music seemed to play OK until I clicked "Fotos" and then that page loading shut out the music until it finished loading.
Here's one solution.....http://javascript.internet.com/page-details/preload-page.html

I have no solution but you're right: loading time is dramatic.
